Region: Ruppertsberg, Pfalz, Germany Quality Level:  Qualitatswein Grape Varieties: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Sweetness Level:  Dry style Alcohol:  14.5% Vinification: Our white Fumé (smoky) wines are selected for their quality.  Due to the eastern exposure of this area, the first light of the sun heats the ground early in the morning. The vines are rooted in highly skeletal red sandstone soil with isolated lime deposits from microorganisms that died millions of years ago. This Sauvignon was matured in 600-litre wooden barrels according to the French model. Tasting notes: The wine has a complex fragrance with aromas of pear skin, tropical fruit, paprika, currant, and vanilla, and blends perfectly with the soft acidity, bringing out its density. This adds a further dimension of tertiary aromas to the complex primary aromatics.

Dr. Josef Köhr is a captivating wine grower who has successfully integrated new trends in winemaking into a traditional winery situated in the Pfalz, Germany. Under his leadership, the winery has diversified its production to include wines that differ from typical German varieties. Besides Riesling, the vineyard cultivates several French grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, and has made notable progress in ageing their wines in oak barrels. The German Agricultural Society recognised their wines in 2020, 2021, and 2023, and some of their wines are suitable for vegans.
