Region: Ruppertsberg, Pfalz, Germany QualityLevel:  Qualitatswein Grape Varieties: 100% Spatburgunder Sweetness level:  Dry style Alcohol:  13.5% Vinification: A Pinot Noir that is elegant, powerful, and long-lasting is grown in our famous Ruppertsberg Nußbien vineyard, known for its calcareous, colourful sandstone soil. The wine is fermented on the skins for over a month and then matured for at least 30 months in French barriques with regular bâtonnage. Tasting notes: This Pinot Noir plays highly saturated reflexes of ruby-red colour in the glass. On the palate, an intensely fruity aroma of Pinot Noir, typical cherry, is combined with powerful tertiary aromas such as tobacco, leather, salt, and liquorice, which leave an intense impression in the mouth. The wine is carefully bottled unfiltered to preserve maximum aroma.

Winery Story

Dr. Josef Köhr is a captivating wine grower who has successfully integrated new trends in winemaking into a traditional winery situated in the Pfalz, Germany. Under his leadership, the winery has diversified its production to include wines that differ from typical German varieties. Besides Riesling, the vineyard cultivates several French grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, and has made notable progress in ageing their wines in oak barrels. The German Agricultural Society recognised their wines in 2020, 2021, and 2023, and some of their wines are suitable for vegans.
